Apartment 2 Zinc, 2-10 Headland Road, Newquay, Cornwall, TR7 1FD

One of the Zinc holiday apartments, Apartment 2, went for auction in Exeter, yesterday, 26 April, through Countrywide Auctions. Zinc Holiday Apartment Auction Results 26 April 2016 I was interested to watch this lot as I’ve often entertained ideas of buying one of the Zinc holiday apartments. Quite a few friends have rented a holiday home there in the past and they’re really lovely inside and the views are enthralling.

So, I’d had a look at the details …. and was a bit tempted. This is a ground floor apartment, to the rear of the development, so doesn’t enjoy those frontline seafront views.

The auction lot went in with a guide price of £100,000. The catalogue description described the Zinc apartment as:

A purpose built two bedroom apartment situated within this prestigious Zinc development. The apartment boasts good sized open plan living accommodation with an enclosed terraced garden, communal bike/surf board storage area and two bedrooms. It is understood that the apartment benefits from a 999 year lease which was issued in 2009.

Features: Purpose Built; 2 Bedroom Apartment; Long Leasehold; Bike/Surf Board Storage

Ground Floor Apartment Two: Open plan lounge/kitchen/diner with doors to the enclosed terrace, inner hallway, master bedroom with en-suite shower room, bedroom two, bathroom and utility room.

There is parking at Zinc, which costs £190/year for a parking spot – or you can opt out of that and, instead, buy a yearly Newquay Council parking permit costing approximately £220/year, allowing you to park in the car park directly behind the apartments and also in a choice of other car parks in Newquay.

This lot sold for £136,000 – a bargain! This apartment had last been sold in February 2014 for £137,000.

If you’re as tempted as me to look into Zinc, to live in, or as a holiday home, then find out more here: Zinc Apartments. Some have residential status, some holiday home status, which is great as it means you can book yourself a short break there to try it out.
