Callestick Farm Ice Cream, Cornwall
Long Business Description

Callestick Farm is a working family farm between Truro and Newquay, that has been producing Cornish ice-cream since 1989.

Come and watch the ice cream being made! Custom built visitors' viewing gallery.

Callestick Farm is free to visit and there is a free on-site car park with a collection of farm animals, some rare breeds, including various breeds of chickens and pigs, a shire horse and sometimes calves or heifers too.

There is a visitors viewing gallery so you can look down on Sebastian and his team in the ice cream factory making and packing the ice cream, where you'll see tubs of ice-cream being filled by hand. Ice cream is not made 24/7, it is made depending on the season and orders received, but there is always something to watch in the visitors' gallery. A DVD runs in the viewing gallery throughout the day, to give you an insight into how the farm is run and how ice cream is made.

The Callestick Farm shop and tearoom serve snacks, light lunches, cream teas, hot and cold drinks and, of course, the best ice cream you'll ever taste.

Accessibility: There is disabled access to all facilities apart from the viewing gallery unfortunately, which due to it's birds eye view, does have some steeps steps to climb.

Cod End Chip Shop, Newquay
Business Genre
Long Business Description

The Cod End fish and chip shop is close to Newquay Station and alongside Aldi.

Offering the full, traditional, range of fish and chip suppers, there are tables inside and out if you want to sit down and eat your fish and chips - although I'd suggest you take them outside to sit on the benches at Aldi and enjoy the al fresco experience with beach view, although there are sea views from inside if you can get a seat at the rear.

Cornish Yarg Cheese at Lynher Farm
Long Business Description

Cornish Yarg, a a Cornish semi-hard cheese made from grass-rich milk and wrapped in stinging nettles or wild garlic. Cornish Yarg is handmade on Lynher Farm near Truro, having moved from Launceston in 2006 as they needed larger premises.

The natural rinds help the cheeses mature and impart flavour, producing a delicate, mushroomy taste with a more crumbly texture than the slightly firmer Wild Garlic Yarg, which whispers rather than shouts its name.

Lynher Dairies is now one of the most successful makers of artisan cheese in Britain, consistently winning Gold at British and worldwide cheese shows.

In 2012 Cornish Yarg won Best English Cheese at the International Cheese Awards, and Reserve Champion at the Royal Bath and West Show.

The dairy processes 2 million litres of milk, hand picks two tonnes of nettle and wild garlic leaves from the neighbouring woodland, and produces more than 200 tonnes of cheese a year.

From April to October there are occasional Cheese Factory Tours and cheese tastings, Monday to Saturday. Contact the farm for more details as availability changes depending on the season.
