4 Beer, Ale & Cider Festivals in Newquay

Newquay Beer Ale Cider Festivals

Each year there are Beer Festivals, Ale Festivals and Cider Festivals organised in and around the town. The main annual Newquay Beer Festival is organised by the Lions Club in September – a full 3-day extravaganza with entertainment and on site accommodation.

Throughout the year some local pubs and events organisers also put on beer festivals of varying sizes, as well as there being a couple of other large festivals locally.

There will always be a good turnout of local producers at every locally run event too, you can always spot the beer tent, it’s the one with the crowd round it!

Below are some of the venues and organisations that have arranged beer festivals in the past, followed by the events diary giving dates of any known beer festivals and similar.

  1. Bowgie Inn Ale Festival: Over on Pentire, Crantock, the Bowgie Inn hosts a beer festival on August Bank Holiday weekend. Real ale and Cornish ciders.  This is a pub-based Ale Festival, with panoramic sea views over Crantock Beach from their beer garden.
  2. Smuggler’s Den Pie & Ale Festival: This pub-based Festival is held on the early May Spring Bank Holiday each year. Postcode TR8 5PY. Camping is available in the adjacent camp site.  Smuggler’s Den is an ancient thatched pub, adjacent to a camping park.
  3. Newquay Beer Festival is organised by Newquay Lions and is a 3-day beer festival at Hendra Holiday Park.  Held in September each year, there  are plenty of options to camp very affordably on site.  A safe, family-friendly environment, with restrictions on access to bar areas for under 18s, on-site camping is available.  Website: Newquay Beer Festival
  4. Healey’s Cider Farm Cider Festival – started in 2013, the Cider Festival is now an annual 3-day music and cider festival held in the Little Orchard of Healey’s Cider Farm, Penhallow, just a few miles from Newquay, usually running from Friday to Sunday, this is a major event with on-site camping and glamping and major bands.  Look out for it ~7-11 September each year. Also worth a mention:

  • Britain’s National Beer Day was launched in 2015, this will be on 15 June each year. Website: http://www.beerdaybritain.co.uk/ – it’s more a focus date for the beverage industry to put on their own local events and promotions.
  • Wetherspoon’s Beer Festivals: local Wetherspoons pubs will have a large range of Real Ale during their Beer Festival weeks, which tend to be mid March – No tents, just real ales in Wetherspoons pubs across the UK, giving you the feeling of a beer festival atmosphere in your local area.
