Food Banks in Newquay and Cornwall

Newquay Soup Kitchen and Food Banks

If you’re looking for foodbanks in Newquay, or further afield in Cornwall, below is a list of the ones that are operating. By the very nature of the service they provide, foodbanks can start up and discontinue with short notice, but I hope you find what you’re looking for, or at least find this list a good starting point!

The main foodbank in Newquay is currently provided by St Michael’s Church, with outlets in three locations:

  • St Michael’s Church, Newquay, near the Tourist Information Office
  • St Columb Minor Church, 2 miles out of the town centre
  • St Columb Major, a few miles inland.

To get access to a food bank you usually need a referral, which can be obtained through social services, or your GP. You can’t just turn up at a food bank and expect to get food – but certainly turn up to get help/advice and see what they can offer you in terms of putting you in touch with the right people who can issue you with a voucher for 3 days’ food asap.

Food banks will usually give you basic supplies for 3 days and there is a limit to the number of times you can go to one, usually a limit of three times.

Food banks are staffed by volunteers and, most often, rely on donations from the public. For this reason they are not open full-time, just certain hours and days of the week. If you can volunteer at a food bank, or help with food collections, get in touch with one in your area:

Foodbanks in Cornwall

Rather than provide a list of food banks in Cornwall here, which might be out of date very quickly and mislead people in need, below are the organisations that are organising the food banks and their lists of them. Food banks are run by a few organisations; each organisation runs several, so this list is more useful to potential clients than me making a list:
