Surfers from around the UK will be heading to Newquay this weekend to fight for the 2010 UK Pro Surf Tour Champions crown.

It is anticipated that a big swell is pushing this way for the competition which will test surfer's skills.

The event is the final stop on the UK Pro Surf Tour with a prize purse of £2,000.

The one star event will consist of the Men's Open, Women's Open, U16 Boys division and Pro Junior.

Current weather predictions show a 10 foot swell pushing in for Saturday 13th November, which could see the first day of the competition moving to Newquay's Towan Beach and the final being held at Fistral Beach on Sunday.

This time of year usually delivers some decent swell and last year we had epic conditions and I'm hoping for the same again...

Amongst the competitors will be 2009 Overall Men's Champion, and 2010 Champion of Champion's, Animal rider, Alan Stokes who has been competing on the WQS tour this year and is looking forward to coming back to home turf.

Alan Stokes commented "This time of year usually delivers some decent swell and last year we had epic conditions and I'm hoping for the same again this year, I can't wait!"

Other Animal riders include - James Hick who has spent the summer chasing monster waves in Australia and South Africa, Junior BLU Longboard Tour winner, Zack Lawton, winner of the Nike 6.0 photo comp last month, Liam Turner, previous champion Easkey Britton and Hannah Harding who will be heading off to Bali afterwards for a four month trip.

Dave Reed, UK PSA director, said: "It is great to have one of the UK's leading surf brands, Animal, supporting the tour, sponsoring the concluding and deciding event. This year we have seen without a doubt, one of the most exciting series of events and it is fitting that it will all be decided at the tour finale."

There will be a minute silence held before the start of the Open final on Sunday so surfers and spectators can pay their respects and remember the late Andy Irons.
