The nearest National Trust property to Newquay is Trerice, an Elizabethan manor house just 2-3 miles inland.  Lanhydrock House, just outside Bodmin, isn’t far away.

The West Wing of Trerice, which sleeps 2, is available to book as a holiday cottage if you want to stay somewhere a little special. There are generous discounts for National Trust members at their cottages.

Trerice was the ‘Trenwith’ of Winston Graham’s Poldark novels, set in Cornwall and later made into a TV series.

For car parking, there’s free car parking at Holywell Bay, Crantock beach car park and the Polly Joke car park. There is a downloadable National Trust Car Park Map showing where all the free car parks are – a National Trust membership is a boon if you’re on a touring holiday as you can stop and park on a whim knowing you’re not blowing your budget.
