New Waitrose Opening in Truro on 16 June

Time’s getting closer to the new Waitrose opening in Truro. The “will they, won’t they” and the waiting, for many, has gone on for years. Until now there has only been one Waitrose in Cornwall, at Saltash, so inaccessible for most. WaitroseTruroCornwall_468x146

Waitrose Truro Opening Date:

Well, the official opening date is 16 June 2016, 8am prompt!

The new Waitrose store in Truro is 21,000 square feet, offering a café, fresh meat and fresh fish counters, a cheese counter, and a “food for now” section.  There’s also going to be a Waitrose bakery and the usual Waitrose food/drinks/spirits aisles.

The new store also offers a free minicab phone, Lottery counter, baby changing facility, a Waitrose car park, Parent/child Parking and customer toilets.

Additionally, next door to the Waitrose store they are also opening a Cornish Food Hall, showcasing the best of Cornish food.

New Waitrose Truro Address:

  • Tregurra Park, Newquay Road, Truro, Cornwall, TR1 1RH

Where is the new Waitrose in Truro?

It’s not in the town centre, it’s outside about a mile from the Cathedral.  If you’re heading towards St Austell from Truro city centre, you have to turn left at the traffic lights where the signs point to Newquay.  If you’re coming in from the A30 you need to get off at the Carland Cross roundabout and head down the A39 past Trispen.  If you’re coming to Truro from St Austell you’ll take a right hand turn at the traffic lights on the outskirts of Truro.

Other local landmarks for the location includes the Truro Livestock Market.

“You can’t miss it” as they all say …. although you really can’t as it’s right on the corner of the main road at the traffic lights!

How far is Waitrose from Newquay?

Door to door it’s just under 14 miles.

Waitrose Launch Event

I’m sure Waitrose will put on a good show for their Truro opening event! Probably a few balloons and a lot of food tasting is my bet. So, for a slice of posh nosh and a balloon, start planning what you’ll be buying!
