Newquay’s D class lifeboat Valerie Wilson launched twice on Thursday 7 April 2011 to assist a stricken yacht 
A French ocean going yacht and her six crew were on their way to the Isles of Scilly when they decided to make a stop off in Newquay Harbour. Unfortunately they misjudged the depth of the ebbing tide and quickly became stranded on Towan Beach.
