The Poldark 2016 Location Nearest to Newquay

If you were a fan of the Poldark series in 2015, then you’ll be thrilled to know that Poldark 2016 will be airing later this month.  This TV series has proved as popular this time round as the original TV series was and Series 2 picks up the story exactly where it left off in Series 1.

Poldark Location Nearest Newquay

Filming for Poldark 2016 has taken place near to Newquay, as well as further afield in Cornwall and even some up country shoots!

Once the main season’s finished, these locations can make for some great autumn, winter, or spring walks – to see if you can recognise any of the shots you see on the Poldark programme!  And, who knows, you might stumble across filming for the next series!

The Poldark 2016 film location closest to Newquay for you to visit is:

  • Holywell Bay – where the TV series filmed the actors riding horses across a beach, often with shots through the sanddunes and long grass. Holywell Bay is just about 3 miles from Newquay.  There is a National Trust car park at Holywell Bay, as well as two pubs – one of which is the 12th century, thatched, Treguth Inn.
Plan your trip for low tide and you might be able to see the remains of an old shipwreck on the beach, or even visit the Holy Well in the sea cave on Holywell Bay beach: Holywell Bay Holy Well

Further afield, filming took place on Bodmin Moor (25 miles), at Padstow (20 miles), at St Agnes Head (12 miles) and at Charlestown Harbour (17 miles).  These locations are a great idea for a planned touring trip – perhaps on a day when the weather’s not being so kind.

Other Poldark Cornish film locations for 2016 included Church Cove, near Helston on the Lizard (30 miles), at Botallack and Levant Mines – near St Just (40 miles) and at Porthgwarra (40 miles).
