Airport in development trial

Newquay Cornwall Airport has been chosen to join a national trial looking at how the planning process can be made more efficient. Cornwall Development Company (CDC), working with airport operator Cornwall Airport Limited and Cornwall Council, has secured £10k of Government funding to progress what is called a Local Development Order (LDO) for aviation-related development at the airport, which is owned by the council.

It is part of a pilot scheme set up by the Government’s Planning Advisory Service to look at potential uses for LDOs, and the airport is just one of ten schemes in the country taking part. Continue reading

Skilled jobs created at Newquay Airport

Jobs are created in Newquay as British International Helicopters announces it will operate an aircraft engineering centre in Newquay.

British International Helicopters (BIH) has announced it will be operating an aircraft engineering centre by the end of the year.

Carolyn Rule from Cornwall Council said: “It will bring in revenue to the airport and, crucially, much-needed high quality jobs.” Continue reading

Newquay Airport in major deal with helicopter firm

Over 20 jobs have been created at Newquay Cornwall Airport in a major deal with a helicopter firm.

British International Helicopters, which already transfers passengers to the Isles of Scilly, has set up a new aircraft engineering centre at the airport.

The company’s decision to move to the airport follows news earlier in the year that global helicopter giant Agusta Westland was setting up operations there, bringing with it 30 jobs.
