Lane Theatre, NewquayLane Theatre Newquay Cornwall

Started in 1931, Newquay Dramatic Society owns its own premises on the outskirts of Newquay (close to Morrisons).  Lane Theatre has good on site parking, seats 138 and has a fully licensed bar area.

Originally the local, derelict, Village Hall, the Society bought the building in 1980 and, over the years, they have transformed the space into a modern (disabled accessible) building with everything a small theatre needs to put on high quality productions for themselves, or to be hired out by other entertainers.

Productions, shows and events are staged throughout the year.  Tickets might typically be in the £8-10 range.

Travelling Theatre Groups also sometimes appear at Lane Theatre, in 2016 The Camp Theatre Company have booked one date on their tour, as have Reamba Productions.

Other events include comedians, psychics, bands and musicians, usually on tour and at Lane Theatre for single dates.  Prices might typically be in the £10-20 range.  In recent years these have included Raymond Froggett, Chris Bannister with the Music of John Denver, The Beach Boys Band (Tribute), The Joe Cocker Experience.

Newquay Amateur Stage Company

Originally started in 1936, the NASC has gone through a transformation in recent years to ensure they stay up to date and popular.  They put on just one major show every year at a venue in the town. The Stage Company rehearse in St Michael’s Church Hall.

In 2015 the Newquay Stage Company won a National Operatic & Dramatic Association Regional Achievement Award for their production of The Pirates of Penzance.

Cats Musical Newquay Stage CompanyThe 2017 show is Cats the Musical, staged at The Junior Hall, Tretherras Academy and running from Wednesday 25 October to Saturday 28 October 2017.  Shows run in the evenings, starting at 7.30pm, with an additional Matinee at 2.30pm on the Saturday.

Ticket Prices: Tickets will typically cost about £12.50.

Newquay Amateur Stage Company Anything Goes Cole Porter 2016 The show for 2016 was Cole Porter’s classic “Anything Goes”, The Beaumont 1987 Edition – running for four days from 28 September to 1 October 2016. The show ran on evenings Wed-Fri and on the Saturday with an afternoon performance and an evening performance.

Newquay Lighthouse Cinema, WTW Newquay Lighthouse Cinema

Opening in 2011, this is a purpose-built modern cinema in the middle of town.  There are four screens and offer the full range of regular cinema screenings, 2D films, 3D films and even live satellite streamed shows.

Ticket Prices: Tickets for the cinema will typically cost £8, but there are the usual raft of deals, groups, special prices/showings that you usually get.

Hall for Cornwall, TruroHall For Cornwall Theatre Truro

If you want a larger theatre visit, with high budget productions then the main theatre and entertainment centre in Cornwall is the Hall for Cornwall in the centre of Truro.  Custom-converted in 1997 the Hall offers a large theatre with cafe and bar.  There is no on-site parking.

Ticket Prices: The tickets at Hall for Cornwall might typically cost £20-30 for many of their productions.

Being a large organisation in the heart of Cornwall’s capital, the Hall for Cornwall will have events, shows and productions on every day.
