Western Greyhound Buses Closed Down

Without warning earlier today Western Greyhound buses closed down. Western Greyhound currently cover a lot of routes from Newquay to Crantock and Truro, as well as Newquay to campsites like White Acres … and more.

Things will become clearer in the next few days, in the meantime people are being stranded when buses don’t arrive.

Starting in 1998, when Western Greyhound were taken over in December they had approximately 2.7 million passengers a year in Cornwall and Devon using the service.

A Cornwall County Council statement said they are aware of the close down by WG Buses and will be working hard to get alternative services sorted as quickly as possible, but it was inevitable there’d be disruption to services over the next few days.

UPDATE:
First Kernow have said they will accept all Western Greyhound tickets and passes on all its services.

Also, from their Facebook page:

“Replacement buses for Western Greyhound routes from Monday 16 March. ‪

We can confirm we will run replacement bus services from Monday, following the cessation of Western Greyhound’s services today.

We are currently working on driver duties, schedules and timetables and we are sure you will appreciate this takes time. They will also need approval by Cornwall Council and Regulators before we publish and implement. There may be some minor amends to services/timetables so we ask all passengers to check the timetables closely.

We will endeavour to publish timetables on our website and social media feeds as soon as we are able over this weekend. We expect to have everything available by Monday morning. Timetables at the bus stops will also be updated as soon as we can. We will also try to have printed timetables in our travel shops early next week.

Please keep checking our Facebook and Twitter feeds for updates.

A big thanks in advance to all our team who will be working extra this weekend to arrange these emergency services and timetables. (CJ)”
