Saturday 23 February 2013 is the date of the second hurling in St Columb Major in 2013.

Hurling or Hurling the Silver Ball (Cornish: Hyrlîan) is only played in Cornwall. It is an outdoor team game of Celtic origin, played with a small silver ball.

Cornish Hurling is a ball throwing/carrying game, one of Cornwall’s unique customs that have survived unchanged and have taken place annually since before records began.

The hurling ball is applewood with a layer of sterling silver wrapped around it. The winner of the ball has the right to keep it, but must have a new one made in its place for the next game. The price of a new ball estimated to be around £300.

First Hurling: Shrove Tuesday
Second Hurling: Second Saturday following Shrove Tuesday
