Perranporth Carnival 2013 starts on Saturday 27 July 2013. There are activities all day long, with the roads being closed and a procession in the evening after 6.30pm. There is no theme this year for the procession and floats. Carnival Prince and Princess Miles Bunday and Kimmie Welch will be leading the parade.
Procession starts from Bolenna Field (via St Georges Hill). Judging of floats will be done by the St Agnes Carnival Committee. Watch the floats, this is a free event.
Those entering a float must have insurance. You can walk in a group, decorate your bicycle, wheelchair, pram or anything – register at Bolenna Field at 6.30pm.
There is an entry class for business advertisers and trading vehicles. If you’ve a pet, dogs are allowed, as there’s a pets class.
There’ll be lots of bucket shaking going on, to collect money to pay for the costs of the Perranporth Carnival, with a trophy for the best dressed collector.
During the day, activities will be centred around Inner Green
11am-5pm free putting and boats in Boscawen Lake Gardens
Fancy dress competition for all the shops and pubs all day long. Judging from 10am.

10am – on Inner Green, go karts, play maze, merry go round, bouncy castle, laser tag and more
11am-5pm free putting and boats in Boscawen Lake Gardens
2pm “Seize the Day” perform on the Inner Green, this is a theatre performance.
5.30pm Turn up for judging if you want to be included/judged (Bolenna Fields)
6.30pm Judging of floats
5.30pm Roads closed
7pm Procession starts.
Distance from Newquay: 9 miles.
Bus Route from Newquay: Bus 547 from Manor Road Bus Station. Journey time 30 minutes.
There is no train route to Perranporth.
Perranporth is small enough that if you just turn up and park, you can’t miss the events.
What Else is Near Here?
Perranporth has a huge beach, a sea pool in the rock, St Piran’s Oratory to discover, some great coastal walks and a bar on the Watering Hole beach that was recently voted one of the best beach bars in the world.
Perranporth has a small Co-Op supermarket, as well as an exciting High Street containing everything from local butchers, hot pasties, through to gifts and buckets and spades. There are many small restaurants, from fish and chips to indian/chinese food – and pubs serving top quality food.
Oodles of green picnic spots, sand dunes, or sandy beach areas if you want to settle down for the day and relax. Hot pasties and ice creams are for sale close to the beach car park from several shops.
