Newquay Treviglas School Fire: Two Youths Arrested

Two youths were arrested after a fire at Treviglas School in Newquay today.

Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading through the entire science block after they were alerted to the fire just before midnight on Wednesday.

Over 40 firefighters battled until 3am to get the blaze under control; the blaze severely damaged three rooms in the Maths & Science Block at Treviglas Community College. No-one was injured.

Devon and Cornwall Police have already arrested two 17-year-old youths, on suspicion of burglary and arson. Continue reading

Newquay Slum Landlord Fined for HMO Licence Regulations

Newquay landlord Miss Amanda de Gonville Morrison was fined just £250 + a £15 victim surcharge in Bodmin Magistrates Court for a raft of offences in connection with her property at 3 St Mary’s Road, Newquay, which is a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO).

Faronpark plans £4m investment

A family-owned Cornish business has sounded an optimistic note for the county’s tourism industry with a £4 million pound investment programme involving up to 30 new jobs at three locations.

Newquay-based Faronpark Ltd has submitted a planning application for a £1 million development project at its Lewinnick Lodge overlooking the town’s Fistral Beach. Continue reading

Ryanair Quits Newquay Routes

In yet another change in flights to Newquay, Ryanair today announced it is pulling out of routes and flights to Newquay Airport, meaning the end of the popular Newquay to Alicante summer route.

Ryanair say the flights between Newquay Airport and Alicante are being withdrawn as a protest against the £5 Airport Development Charge that passengers are asked to pay when they leave from Newquay Airport. The nearest airport to get to Spain is now Exeter.

Ryanair will be contacting passengers who have already booked tickets, to give them a refund. Continue reading
