- Many years ago: A couple in Newquay won the lottery jackpot, but I can’t remember who or when! It was roughly 1995-2003.
- March 2013: Lee Orchard, Indian Queens won £1 million with a Gold National Lottery Scratchcard. Lee, 30, and wife Laura, still live in the area.
- July 2015: Lifeguard Mark Tyson, 34 and 27 year old fiancé Jenna O’Hagan won the top prize of £100,000 on the Super Cash Bonus Lottery Scratch Card
- March 2018: £1 million pound winners Taryn and Grant Hawkes, won on the Lotto Millionaire Raffle.

Did you know that Cornwall Air Ambulance runs a lottery? Every Friday a winning ticket is chosen by a computer. Prizes range from £10 to £1,000. Costing just £1/week, cheques are automatically posted out, so you don’t even need to check your numbers!

Lottery Grants and Funding in Newquay
Over the years Newquay has also been a winner when it came to securing Lottery Funding and Grants. The projects include:
- Trenance Cottages: Obtained Heritage Lottery Funding (HLF). £170,000 to bring the cottages back to life.
- Lane Theatre: Obtained lottery funding through the Arts Council of England, enabling Newquay theatre to be updated and expanded.
- Newquay Old Cornwall Society: Funding for an art exhibition with Newquay Society of Artists.

Newquay Academy. £5,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to create a wildlife garden on school grounds for pupils and the wider community.

Treviglas School. £7,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to construct a climbing wall.
Newquay Zoo. £7,000 from the Big Lottery Fund towards a resource facility for volunteers, enabling beneficiaries, including those with disabilities, open access to training and information. - 2013:
Newquay Scouts: £10,000 for new camping equipment and new site boundary fencing.
Tretherras Allotment Association. £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund for security fencing. - 2014:
Mawgan Porth. £10,000 to replace the roof of the Village Hall.
Pentreath Ltd. £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to provide training in coping strategies for carers of people living with mental health concerns. - 2015:
Lusty Glaze Surf Life Saving Club. £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to provide an inshore rescue boat.
781 (Newquay) Squadron Air Training Corps. £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to buy new equipment for the air cadet activities.
Newquay Community Orchard: £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund, to develop a community garden.
