The Early May Bank Holiday 2016 runs from Saturday 30 April to Monday 2 May – and there’s a lot of activity in and around Newquay that weekend. 
Keep an eye out for local boards and adverts as a lot of events are just advertised locally on posters, being hard to track down.
Blue Reef Aquarium, on Towan Beach, will be open and Newquay Zoo is open every day over the bank holiday weekend.
There’s the traditional Mini Run Festival, over at Porth on the old Trevelgue area, as well as individual events and promotions running around town by local businesses.
2-3 miles outside of Newquay, there’s the Smugglers Den Annual Pie & Beer Festival, now in its 16th year.
Newquay Cinema is running: The Jungle Book 2D and 3D, Bastille Day, Friend Request, Captain America Civil War 2D and 3D, Brown Willy, Demolition, Robinson Crusoe 2D and Zootropolis 2D.
The National Surf Championships are running the entire weekend at Watergate Bay, just 2 miles north of Newquay, from 10am to 4pm each day.
Check out the National Trust property closest to Newquay – Trerice Manor which is open daily for house tours, the gardens and a tea room.
The weather forecast for Newquay over the early May Bank Holiday 2016 isn’t looking too great at the moment, but, as we know, things can change in a heartbeat! So pack for all weather events and just set your mind on kicking back for a few relaxing days!
High tides are at lunchtime for the weekend, so if you’re taking a walk try to set out at High Tide so you don’t get cut off. High tide is at 11.30am on Saturday 30 April and on Bank Holiday Monday High Tide is ~2.15pm.

Just two miles out of Newquay you’ll find the Smugglers’ Den Inn where there’s an annual Pie & Ale Festival that’s now in its 16th year. The Pie & Ale Festival runs the whole of the May Bank Holiday Weekend 2016, from Friday 29 April to Monday 2 May inclusive.
Over 70 fine ales available as well as a great choice of homemade pies and food and live entertainment. This is an indoor event within the Inn as well as being outdoors in the grounds if you want some fresh air!

The annual Vintage Mini Riviera Run is being hosted again in 2016 at Trevelgue Road, Newquay – Trevelgue Camp Site was sold off and the old Mini Riviera Run’s now in this new guise featuring a whole 3-day Vintage Camping Weekend at Newquay, Cornwall at the renamed Newquay View Resort. Same great location, more fun.

Fun Dog Show at Newquay, Newquay
On Sunday 1 May, the early May Bank Holiday weekend, the St Francis Dog Show is running in the Steam Bar at the Great Western Hotel, opposite Newquay station.
The show starts at 12 noon, running until 3pm.
