A keen surfer already, Andy said: “When I read about the Wave Project on Twitter I knew it was something I had to be involved in. I am passionate about surfing, and have seen a similar event that takes place in LA. I can’t wait to get in the water and help out, there’s nothing better than supporting great causes.”

The event is being funded by the Big Lottery Fund and will also offer free surf taster sessions for people with disabilities.

Wave Project chief executive Joe Taylor said: “It is amazing the Andy Jordan has offered to come and support the competition. The offer came out of the blue after Andy found out about the event on Twitter. We’re really delighted that he has not only agreed to come along, but will be getting on a wetsuit and helping disabled children to surf.”
