Landslide at Lusty Glaze Beach Newquay

Newquay Landslide Lusty Glaze Beach

A small landslide and rockfall occurred at Lusty Glaze Beach, near Porth, Newquay, Cornwall, with rocks burying several of the beach huts down on the beach 100′ below.

As these are seasonal beach huts, nobody sleeps in them, they are not lived in, so nobody was injured or harmed.

The cause is probably in part to do with the recent cold snap and freezing water entering the rock layers and expanding.

Work has quickly started to clear the debris away – the day huts are used for storage in the winter months, so there was nobody on the beach when it happened.

Still Open for Business:

The Lusty Glaze team issued a statement – they are still open for business:

Newquay Landslide Lusty Glaze Beach Open Business

Beach access has not been affected – the usual steps are some yards/metres away and still open. The businesses on Lusty Glaze beach are still open too for sightseers and photo opportunities…. and a warming drink and something to eat.
