Lusty Glaze Beach

Lusty Glaze Beach is a privately-owned beach in Newquay that’s like an amphitheatre cut from the 100′ high cliffs.

Lusty Glaze Beach, Newquay

When the tide’s out it’s possible to walk to Lusty Glaze Beach from Tolcarne Beach, or even from Porth Beach when it’s a super-low tide.

Lusty Glaze beach has been developed into an activity-centred venue. Providing surf lessons and lifeguarding qualifications, as well as some night surfing events and other special events, Lusty Glaze Beach caters mostly for active thrill-seekers – and those who want to discover something a little different on their holidays. Lusty Glaze even also has the highest zip wire in Europe so you can zip wire across the beach and drop down onto the sand if you want. Lusty Glaze also hosts the Fat Face Night Surfing event and similar one-off events.

Getting down to Lusty Glaze Beach is via 133 steep and irregular steps. There is a car park at the top of the cliffs, alongside the Glendorgal Hotel, which you can use. There is no access to Lusty Glaze Beach if you are in a wheelchair or require aids to help you walk because the steps are just too narrow and unpredictable.

Once you’re down on the beach, there’s a great award-winning bar and bistro to enjoy. There are also some super wooden beach huts for hire. Lusty Glaze has a webcam to see what the surf’s like – it has three webcams, one for each side of the beach and one pointing directly at the sea so you can check out the surf.

Lusty Glaze is a cut above the other beaches and ideal for the more discerning and refined clientele that want a 5-star beach experience. You can book one-to-one surf tuition, and other activities, at the beach.
