It’s the middle of the Pick Your Own Fruit (PYO) season in Cornwall, so why not visit a local farm and pick your own strawberries, raspberries or even courgettes – all three of these are in season in August and September at the Mitchell Fruit Farm, just outside Newquay.
Pick yourself a fresh and fruity beach picnic treat.
One place near to Newquay that you can PYO Strawberries is Mitchell Fruit Farm, just 7 miles along the coast to the West.
They’re open Monday to Saturday until 5pm, but phone first to check as PYO Fruit is a weather-dependent and fruit stocks dependent activity, although they do have polytunnels, so fruit picking indoors is possible. Even if they’ve not got the option to PYO on the day you choose, you might still be able to buy ready-picked fresh fruit from the on-site farm shop.
