Coastal Search Underway for Missing Local Man

A joint coastal search was started today with coastguard teams, two lifeboats and a rescue helicopter, to try to find a missing local man, Mark Neville, 45, who disappeared from his home in Newquay on Thursday night.

Police state that they are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare and have urged anyone with information to come forward.

Mr Neville is described as 6ft 4in (1.6m), of thin build, with short light brown hair and is believed to be wearing blue jeans and a green top.

Richard Williams, spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said that the emergency services, including a helicopter from RNAS Culdrose, have been searching the local area from Kelsey Head, near Crantock, to Watergate Bay. Continue reading

Newquay Treviglas School Fire: Two Youths Arrested

Two youths were arrested after a fire at Treviglas School in Newquay today.

Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading through the entire science block after they were alerted to the fire just before midnight on Wednesday.

Over 40 firefighters battled until 3am to get the blaze under control; the blaze severely damaged three rooms in the Maths & Science Block at Treviglas Community College. No-one was injured.

Devon and Cornwall Police have already arrested two 17-year-old youths, on suspicion of burglary and arson. Continue reading

Newquay Slum Landlord Fined for HMO Licence Regulations

Newquay landlord Miss Amanda de Gonville Morrison was fined just £250 + a £15 victim surcharge in Bodmin Magistrates Court for a raft of offences in connection with her property at 3 St Mary’s Road, Newquay, which is a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO).

Faronpark plans £4m investment

A family-owned Cornish business has sounded an optimistic note for the county’s tourism industry with a £4 million pound investment programme involving up to 30 new jobs at three locations.

Newquay-based Faronpark Ltd has submitted a planning application for a £1 million development project at its Lewinnick Lodge overlooking the town’s Fistral Beach. Continue reading
