Date: Friday 13 Sep 2013. Starts: 5PM. Ends: 10PM.

Location: Crantock, Newquay

Details of Event:

The Crantock bale push 2013 is going to be bigger than ever before. Held on the second Friday in September, it’s on Friday 13 September 2013.

Starting at 5.30pm, parking is in a field about half a mile from the centre of the village as the village streets close to the Old Albion pub are closed off.

The annual Crantock Bale Push is a quarter of a mile race, where teams of four roll a Straw Bale around the heart of the village of Crantock, all timed against a clock. The aim is once again, to raise funds in support of many other local and Cornish Charities.

The Big Bale Push is a fun event suitable for all ages.

Over 100 teams take part. The bale push races are run in teams of four pushing a full-sized round bale of straw that weighs approximately 420 lbs and measures 4’6” in diameter. The courses differ in length, depending on the class of race.

Parents are reminded to be vigilant with their children as these bales are HUGE and weigh 190Kg.

The main course for the “180 veterans”, and “The Open” is run over a full quarter of a mile through the village – uphill and downhill.

Races start and finish between the two village pubs: The Cornishman and The Old Albion.
