The Newquay Gig Racing Championships 2016 are held, as usual, across two separate weekends. 
The first weekend is the Ladies’ Gig Racing Championships, on Saturday 10 September 2016 and Sunday 11 September 2016. The Men’s Gig Championships are two weeks later on 24-25 September 2016.
Events are all day and the Harbour car park is closed to the public, as the area is used to accommodate the vehicles and boats arriving from the competing teams from across Cornwall (and beyond!).
Round the Harbourside there’s plenty to watch between races, as well as plenty of food and drink available. Other great vantage points can be secured above the Fly Cellars, on surrounding beaches, or even from the beer garden of the Fort Inn directly above the Harbour!
