Planners have approved the plans to build a £1 million family restaurant at the Central Inn, Newquay, to the delight of brewery bosses. The plans were backed unanimously when St Austell Brewery put in an application to extend The Central Inn.
It is hoped that the new 120-seater Frankie & Benny’s-style eatery will complement the new Lighthouse Cinema located directly behind it. The extension is to be built over the existing roof area, making way for the restaurant, which will be accessed via a new entrance at the back of the premises.
Adam Luck, estate director for St Austell Brewery, said: “St Austell Brewery is pleased that planning permission has been granted to provide a restaurant and new access at the rear of The Central.
“Newquay remains a very important trading town for us and it is our policy to invest in our estate to ensure we meet changing customer habits and expectations.”
The rear entrance – which would also provide access to the main pub – was the source of concern among locals, who believe existing noise issues will only get worse.
