Cornwall Surf Academy caters for families, groups, hen parties, stag groups – and are a great Birthday Party Venue. As well as surf lessons, they offer coasteering sessions. Based at the Aquasurf Lodge, accommodation is available or you can make your own arrangements and just turn up for the lessons.
Morning sessions start at 10am; afternoon sessions start at 2pm. Lessons last 2.5-3 hours. The Surf Academy offers half day and full day surf lessons, plus a variety of packages up to a 5 day course giving you a lesson each morning and includes board hire for the rest of the day.
The surf academy is based at Holywell Bay Holiday Park, but surfing lessons are run from Towan Beach, Newquay – if the surf and waves are better for lessons on Fistral or Great Western Beach then the lessons will be held there instead.
All surf instructors have British Surfing Association qualifications or International equivalents. Each Surf coach is also a qualified beach lifeguard

On Hendra Holiday Park, the Oasis fun pools are open every day throughout the holiday season, regular/daytime hours only, which are typically 10am to 6pm during peak season.
Prices 2016: Children 0-2 free, spectators £1. Prices for adults and children are season-dependant. Children’s prices range from £3.30 (off peak, aged 3-4) to £6.65 (peak season, aged 5-14). Adults are £6.55-£8.45 depending on the season. Session times of 1 hour and 30 minutes apply during peak and busy periods. Locals card available.
Newquay Activity Centre, based on Headland Road, Newquay (which leads to Fistral Beach), specialise in surf lessons, and additionally offer bodyboarding, coasteering and surf hire. Open all year round.
There’s a huge variety of activity packages including fishing, climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, beach volleyball, cheerleading and burlesque, sea safari snorkelling, beach barbecues, windsurfing, stand up paddle surfing, massage and pampering sessions.
These experiences are offered to individuals, or groups and are suitable for individuals, families, stag dos, hen parties, kids and military groups.
One surf lesson costs £30, or book a block of 7 lessons for £105. Sunday Specials are priced at £25 and a weekend-long special of four surf lessons for just £99. Family packages from £119. There are group discounts and if your group is 26+ people then a surf lesson costs just £18/person.

Newquay Waterworld swimming pool is run by Tempus Leisure.
Located on the outskirts of town, with plenty of pay and display parking you’ll find the swimming pool alongside Newquay Zoo, Newquay Tennis Club and the lovely Trenance Gardens and Boating Lake, so easy to spot! It’s also on the route of Newquay Road Train.
Newquay Waterworld is the local public swimming pool, offering a Tropical Fun Pool, 25m Swimming Pool and Junior Gym club. There are ratios of adults:children applied of 0-3 years: 1 child to 1 adult and 4-7 years: 2 children to 1 adult. If you don’t meet the criteria, there are Safe Family Swim sessions – all welcome including families who don’t meet admission policy ratios.
Swimming times are broken down into activities, so make sure you know what’s going on when you want to go swimming as it might not be possible. Typical groups and activities include Parent & baby/toddler, Leisure swim, Aqua Zumba, Aquacise, Junior pool disco (8-12 years). Sessions/times vary depending on whether it’s term-time or holiday time.
There’s no cafe on-site, but there are vending machines and they offer a baby food warming service at Reception. If you want food, there’s Newquay Zoo next door, or Trenance Boating Lake Cafe along the road.
Facilites include: Baby changing facilities available in male and female changing rooms. Disabled changing & toilet facilties available.
Swimming pool prices are a complete mystery, you have to phone them to find out as they don’t publish it on their website. Before Tempus took over, the prices were ~£4-7 for adults and £3-5 for concessions, 0-3 years free.
Residents can get a £1 discount – see pool for details. Evidence of address is required and you will have to buy an annual parking pass.
