Rock-fall in Newquay

Coastguards have issued new warnings to holidaymakers not to sit under the cliffs after 20 tons of rock slid onto Towan Beach, Newquay this week. Luckily nobody was hurt, even though it was a busy afternoon.

Cliff falls occur for many reasons, but in recent years there have been a lot more of them – probably due to a variety of weather conditions affecting the stability of the rocks and cliffs.
