Newquay RNLI lifeboats search for missing female

The first launch of the New Year for Newquay’s lifeboats was to search for a missing woman.

Newquay’s inshore lifeboats launched at 13:40 hrs on Tuesday 4th January 2010 to search for a missing female. The lady had been reported missing by concerned friends who were unsure of her whereabouts.

Falmouth Coastguard received a 999 call reporting the local lady missing. They were concerned that she may have got into difficulties along the coast line.

Tasked to search from Pentire headland to Porth Island, the lifeboats launched with volunteers Joe Emmett and Christian Brown at the helms. The volunteer lifeboat crew along with the Newquay Cliff rescue team carried out an extensive search before being stood down at 14:30 hrs. The lady had been found safe and well at home. Where has West Country news gone?

Can anyone in Cornwall actually get West Country news? Up until 2 weeks ago we always watched this after the main ITV news and then it suddenly switched to Central News one day and has stayed that way!

I have asked a few people in Newquay who have all had the same thing happen so is anyone else having this problem or is it a strange local phenomenon. Continue reading

Newquay youth claims world title

Newquay teenager Eden Benney has won gold at the World Kickboxing Championships in Spain.

The 14-year-old claimed the top prize in the under-55kg junior girls semi-contact category at the championships in Alicante.

Benney, who has been competing in martial arts for three years, also won bronze in the light contact category.

The Newquay teenager has previously won the British Junior Girls semi-contact title three times. Continue reading
