Margaret Doherty Named Victim of Crash

The woman who died as a result of the collision has now been formally named as Mrs Margaret Doherty, 77, of Tresillian, Truro.

The 78-year-old male victim is expected to be released from hospital this week and is believed to be her husband Mr George Doherty. The couple lived in Higher Polsue Way in Tresillian.

Mr Doherty was a founding member of the Tresillian Residents’ Association magazine and the couple are well-known in their village running community lunch clubs and activities at the village hall.

An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the collision and police are appealing for witnesses to ring them on 101 quoting log number 819 of June 6.

UPDATE: Tamara Milby, mother of three from St James View, St Columb, pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to having caused the death of 77-year-old Margaret Doherty while over the prescribed limit for drinking and driving. Ms Milby had 118mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood, with the legal limit being 80mg/100ml.

Mrs Doherty died on 7 June 2013, the day after being taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital following a two-car collision at Summercourt. Her husband George, who was in the car with Margaret, survived the accident, but was taken to Hospital. George was a former Vice-Chairman of the St Clement Parish Council.
