What’s on August Bank Holiday 2017 in Newquay? It’s the last big summer weekend of the year and the weathermen predict a heatwave!
If you’re wondering what’s on bank holiday weekend in Newquay, there’ll be something you can find to do – rambling alone or with others, a wild weekend away with your mates, sketching the landscapes, or riding the waters, Newquay’s August Bank Holiday 2017 will have something that ticks all your boxes!
The Bowgie Inn have a weekend-long Ale & Cider Festival at Crantock (25th to 28th August). Lusty Glaze are hosting the 2017 Beach Tag Rugby Tournament (25th to 27th).
On the Saturday there’s a big parade through town from 11am and events throughout the day on the Killacourt for the Cornwall Newquay Pride Event.
National Trust property Trerice are putting on Snail Racing on Saturday 26 August from 11am to 4pm and a Boat Making day, from 11am to 4pm on Sunday 27 August, where you make and decorate your own sail boat and race it.
The Red Arrows will be using Newquay airport on the Bank Holiday Monday, as a base for an air display on the Scillies. Watch out for the Red Arrows over Newquay beaches between noon and early evening as they arrive and depart.
Every pub and club will have special events, from folk evenings to DJs. Newquay Cinema has a full range of films on, mornings, afternoons and some evening screenings.
Keep an eye out for posters for Newquay Fun Fair for opening times.
Or simply chill out on your nearest beach and dip into a special beach picnic of local Cornish produce and a nice bottle of Cornish wine.
Whatever you end up doing, don’t forget to cream up and stick on a hat to protect yourself from the sun!

The Lusty Glaze Beach Tag Rugby tournament returns for 2017, with a family-friendly August Bank Holiday event across three days, Friday 25 August 2017 to Sunday 27 August 2017.
Games are played throughout the day, progressing to knockout stages and floodlit finals on the Sunday evening.
Live music from SkinTight Funk and a fireworks display after the trophy presentation.
Lusty Glaze Beach is open for spectators and friends to enjoy the event, with delicious food and drink available. The restaurant will be closed on Sunday evening for the closing party.

Newquay Cornwall Pride 2017, Newquay, United Kingdom
This is a one day free event on the August bank holiday Saturday – organised by Cornwall Pride. Starting with a parade round the streets of Newquay, there will then be festivities, entertainment and stalls on Killacourt. In the evening there’s a ticketed club event at Tall Trees (close to Newquay Railway Station).
When: Saturday 26 August 2017, 12 noon and throughout the afternoon.
What’s On?
- 12 noon, the Parade starts at Beach Road Car Park, by Walkabout, just above Towan Beach. 11am start for parade participants and groups.
Pride Parade Route: Beach Road, Gover Lane, Bank Street, through the pedestrianised area, East Street to the Post Office, Bridge Road, Trebarwith Crescent, Killacourt. - 1pm, Rainbow Fest: on Killacourt there’ll be activities, entertainment and stalls.
Stalls open 12.30-5pm. Games and face painting until 5pm. Live music 1-7pm. - 7pm is a ticketed event at Tall Trees Nightclub. Moonbow Party featuring Union J.

This is a free event.
Come on down to Towan Beach to meet the Beachrangers – a group of Newquay Marine Group members who will show you the wonders of the Newquay Coastline. See live critters from the Blue Reef Aquarium, samples of species as well as loads of information on litter campaigns, the Newquay Marine Group and the other organisations they work with. Plus loads more!
Newquay Marine Group often organise Newquay Beach Cleans.
Maybe use this as a chance to check out all the changes during the recent expansion and makeover at Towan Beach Promenade, grabbing a bite to eat and a drink!
